RailEvo srl
RailEvo Srl is developing an innovative transport system composed of autonomous 4–6 seat rail taxis operating on dedicated lines and stations, capable of offering an on-demand, 24/7 service with no intermediate stops to/from any station along the route.
The RailEvo concept ensures continuous vehicle movement along the line. Thanks to an innovative vertical switch, vehicles can decide whether or not to engage the track switches and continue at constant speed even while passing through intermediate stations.
RailEvo offers a transport capacity of about 5,000 seats per hour per direction, with high flexibility in traffic management. RailEvo infrastructure is significantly lighter than conventional railway systems, requires fewer materials, and results in lower environmental impact and reduced construction costs. By comparison, axle loads are up to 20 times lower than those of traditional trains.
The constant-speed requirement enables highly predictable travel times and exceptional operational efficiency.
The advantages of RailEvo compared to traditional railway infrastructure are significant:
-
faster return on investment
-
reduced space requirements and shorter construction times
-
ability to handle steeper gradients and tighter curves
-
lower energy consumption per passenger
-
minimal use of public land
-
reduced operational staffing needs
-
shorter travel times
-
24/7 service availability
-
minimal waiting times at stations
-
lower final cost for the user
A RailEvo infrastructure can reach full amortization within 15–20 years, making it an ideal solution for local public transport systems.
We have two R&D groups: the first builds software and hardware for a 1:1 scale prototype, while the second studies the system's traffic model. Through simulation campaigns, it estimates performance against traditional transport demands and develops line management procedures, including formal verification, safety measures, and optimization algorithms for traffic management.
